ACTIVITY IN FEDERAL COURT - HAMMOND

 

 

Hammond, Indiana—The United States Attorney's Office announced the following activity in federal court:

 

Darnell Calloway, 28, of the 2200 block of Wood Hollow Lane, Hammond, Indiana, was charged in an indictment with one count of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, and one count of use of a firearm in relation to a narcotics offense. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives HIDTA Task Force. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Nozick.

 

Glenn Montal Weaver, 33, of the 1400 block of W. 19th Avenue, Gary, Indiana, and Cachun Combs, 32, of the 1200 block of W. 18th Avenue, Gary, Indiana, were charged in an indictment with possession with the intent to distribute twenty-eight (28) grams or more of cocaine base, commonly known as crack cocaine. Weaver was also charged with two additional counts of distribution of crack cocaine. These charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation GRIT Task Force. This case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jacqueline Jacobs.

 

 

The United States Attorney's Office emphasized that an Indictment is merely an allegation and that all persons charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.

            The specific sentence in each case to be imposed upon conviction will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
